Saw Pennyâs Diner while driving by on US 36 and thought it looked like a nice place so we stopped for lunch.
Place wasnât crowded, three folks at the counter and one both with five patrons, but every other table and booth was cluttered with dirty dishes. We made our way to the opposite end of the diner to the clearest of the tables, and sat down. The waitress immediately came over, wiped down the table, handed us menus, and took our beverage order. When the waitress came back a couple of minutes later we ordered two burgers (Mushroom & Swiss and Fiesta), both with fries.
That was at 12:05. During the next 35 minutes the waitress never again visited our table. Weâd gesture, sheâd nod, and nothing. In the interim a couple more sets of folks came in and sat down, and familiar pleasantries were exchanged and orders were taken; however, after we saw both new tables get served, while we sat ignored and hungry we got up dropped a five on the table, and left.
I really didnât want leave a penny, but I figured that I was to angry to deal with the Marshall County Sherriff regarding a skipped check for our two iced teas.
A previous reviewer suggested the food was good and the service great. Iâll never know about the food, but the service was the worst I have ever experienced, and it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.
If the folks in Marysville donât like outsiders then please, do us all a favor and, build a by-pass for US 36 and weâll pretend youâre not even there.
Suggestion: Skip Marysville, the town of Seneca is only 30 miles away and Valentinoâs was a much friendlier place, which had a nice lunch buffet.
Good Food: The food was good and the service was great.

This is typical sevice at this place. I've seen the staff at pennys diner take your order and then run out the back door to shake the sheets at the hotel out back. *Marysville isn't worth the stop if you're traveling*
