User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI had never tried Knolla's until my sister bought a pizza for myself and my neice when I was babysitting for them. WOW- very good! I couldn't believe I had never tried this pizza! Excellent pizza- will eat again!
User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsAfter trying Knolla's Pizza today for the first time, all I can say is that we were terribly disappointed. We had heard so many raves about their pizza (especially compared to the chains) and read all the positive reviews here and elsewhere. So, we finally decided to give it a try. We ordered The Works and a Buffalo-Style Chicken pizza. The gray sausage balls mounded high on The Works looked less than appetizing upon opening the box. I found the crust to be lacking in crunchiness and/or chewiness...two qualities that really seem to typify "New York-style" pizza. It was very toppings-heavy (which I do not appreciate, though I'm sure many do) and yet not particularly tasty. The Buffalo-Style Chicken pizza was nothing short of awful. The cheese was over-melted to the point of seeming broken (if that's possible). I didn't care for the sauce on it either. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be BBQ-y or more Buffalo Wings-ish. The flavor was pretty muddled. The worst part were the chicken pieces. They were dry and tasted like meat (of any sort) that had been reheated in the microwave. The Blue Cheese dressing that came along with it was also quite terrible.
I hate to give poor reviews, but I wouldn't want any other consumers reading these reviews to believe they will be getting great "New York-style" pizza at Knolla's. This pizza is on par with the chains. I even believe that on a particularly good day, a few of the chains might be better. The pizzas had a very frozen and reheated taste and appearance. We're always searching for great pizza, particularly Neapolitan-style. We were pretty sure there was none to be found in Wichita, and now we can be certain.
