My goodness, what a chance to return in time for the old eatery, Once serving Pie and beer. My children were introduced to these yummy burgers early in life, as we lived in other states. Every time we came home for visit, there was always a sack of cozys in the car on the way back home. Shorty Kellams, our childrens grandfather worked there (cozy) untill 1948 when he had to quit for health reasons Today we have 2 grand daughters working there. TRY THEM(COZYS)YOU WILL LIKE THEM).
Read a newspaper article about this place about 10 or 2 years ago. And I was hooked though at the time I had little idea where Salina was.
Well, today, finally, we wandered in the front door to stand in a line. Lines are usual there because the place is small, small, small. There are only SIX stools at the short counter! I can not guess the interior dimensions but the inside is about the size of a typical bedroom.
The burgers are good but small too. Four burgers, chips and a can of pop goes for $5 and change. No fries or anything fancy. Simple burgers that taste terrific.
The cozy inn is a landmark too. It began in 1922 and sold me four burger today.
If you are in Salina, eat at the Cozy Inn, 7th at Iron streets.
What else beats baby burgers, years of history and smelling like you just spent hours sweating out onions...nothing, cozies is tradition yall!!!
Delicious burgers, great hospitality....enough said!!!
