I have no complaints on El Potrillo. The staff has always been professional and the food good. Their sister location, on the other hand, on east 17th st. (Senor Tequilas) has absolutely horrible management. We went yesterday for mother's day and they had scheduled a commercial to be shot. It was not a good day for this as the restaurant was very busy. It took over an hour and a half for us to be seated, serviced, and to receive our food. The manager and media team kept taking the wait staff from the customers to set the commercial up. Then, the manager would get on to the wait staff for not taking care of the customers. There was much confusion and a terrible lack of organization. 3 sets of customers waited at the front to be seated for so long without being greeted that each of them finally left in frustration. Our party asked to speak to the manager and he came to our table full of arrogance and with a very unprofessional attitude. He told us if we did not like the service "we could leave, but all he had to say was that we had better leave a tip!" He told us we needed to understand that it was busy and days like mother's day take longer. We understood that, but the restaurant had emptied out and we still had problems getting served as he had every one focused on creating a commercial. At that point in time we had been there almost two hours and still had not received our ticket to pay. He had absolutely no customer skills and refused to give us the name of the owner so that a complaint could be made. I will not go back to this restaurant until the management has changed and it is ran in a more professional manner. This was one the most horrible dining experiences of my entire life, and on Mother's Day of all days!:(
Amazing food at a great price. Not to mention the coolest flatware! The owner opened another place called Senior Tequilla Mexian Grill in Hutch and in Newton and it is just as good as El Potrillo. Great food.
I have only eaten at El Potrillo once, and from my experience there i would say that I would eat there again. The food was good and the service was too. However nothing exceptional here on either count. The main drawback is in the pricing. So if you want to impress your friends with the amount of the bill, this is your place to go.
