Good, Real, BBQ. Once upon a time, on Mother's Day in 2000, we were going out to eat after church and found all the usual spots full up. So I got to thinkin'... where do we like to eat that doesn't serve "brunchy" food and thusly might not be busy on a Mother's Day? AhhhHaa! Amarillo! Sure enough, there was only one other car in the lot. So this became our family's yearly tradition. Only problem is, other people know about it too now, and it's becoming just as busy on Mother's Day! Oh well, you can't keep a great place like this a secret for too long. Recommended: the ribs, chicken, sausage, beans, cornbread and dirt cake. Mmm, mmm, mmm!!!
I eat at the Amarillo at least everyother week. My husband and I drive from west Omaha to Bellevue just for the Amarillo. I have tried about everything on the menu and have always had great meals, I love the REAL smoked meat. You can tell they do not use any other means to cook their meats. I have to have a to go box because there is sooooooo much food I can never finish it, but love having the left overs. I find it easy on the pocketbook, fun, entertaining and great eats. My favorite is the chicken, so tender and juicy. I recommend everyone has to try the Amarillo at least once, and I guarantee you will go back as often as I do!!!! Love you Amarillo
I visited Amarillo at the recommendation of a couple of KC, MO BBQ judges, I have to say it is the Best Kept Secret in America!!! I love the atmosphere, the music and staff is alot of fun. The best thing thou is the food....Sausage is homemade and fantastic, chicken very juicy, the ribs fall off the bone and have the greatest taste, I don't use sauce with them, the brisket is very tender and the featherbones are the meatiest I have ever seen. The homemade sauce has a bit of a tang and I loved the sides, been back everytime I get through there and have not had a bad meal yet..keep up the great work Amarillo!!!!!
