Great food one of the best next to the drover, There steaks are great, Oh yeah don't listen to the people on the V Mertz. That place is so pretentious and totally not worth the money, plus the food sucks I can cook better meals at home.

It was my first time and after reading the reviews listed was a bit unsure as there were more bad than good. I must say it was an incredible experience! We were not rushed which is very nice since a lot of restaurants are wanting to get your table filled as quickly and as many times as possible. I would definetly recommend the chef's sampler for the appetizer. It allows you to try 5 of the appetizers. The seafood was very fresh tasting. I will be back again and again!!

We dined at the Flatiron on Friday January 25, 2008. First off the staff were great, our waitress Natasha was well informed reguarding the food and wine. We would have preferred that our wine had been decanted at the table instead it was done out of sight. Natasha did recommend a good wine but it however did not stand up to flavors of our meal - we consider this our fault in not relying on our own knowledge of wines (we know our tastes best). We began with a shitake mushroom gratin, the garlic butter and havarti flavors were great when warm. Unfortunately, the dish arrived barely warm and after one sampling we asked that it be reheated to bring out the flavors. I ordered a cumin and orange marinated pork tenderloin with a fig barbeque sauce, a spanish tortillia and garnished with guacamole. The pork was tender and moist but lacked any flavor from having been marinated in cumin and orange, the fig barbeque sauce was over powered with orange which was a shame as figs have their own wonderfully rich sweetness and would have complemented the pork very well. The guacamole garnish did not seem to fit with the pork and was over powered by red onions that that were diced too large and should have offered a more subtle flavor. The spanish tortilla was fine and reminded me of the man from Chile who used to have a restaurant around 39th L St many years ago. He always made the best tortilla for me.

Dessert - we are hard to please as we make so many of our favorites at home. I finished my meal with a peach and berry crisp that was good served with an appropriately sized scoop of vanilla ice cream. What would have improved this dish is an ice cream with more of a rich custard like flavor.

Over all we enjoyed our evening. We are always syurprised to realize that quality service, such as we received from Natasha, goes along way. While our meal was not outstanding it was enjoyed. Since this was our first visit we will go again and try something different, however it did not come close to our always perfect dining expereince at V Mertz. V Mertz is the one Omaha restaurant we can truly say we have never had a bad meal!
