When my girlfriends and I ate at Howards we entered a hostile restaurant with poor service. We wanted to pay separately but were ridiculed by the hostess as well as two regulars. The men chased us out into the dark parkinglot calling us "skinny b's", and the waitress screamed never to bring our "snotty a's" back. I have never been frightened like this in my life.
Lived in Omaha 67 thru 71 and always loved going to Howards. I knew Howard very well and a good friend of mine. wondering if he was still around. great guy. I live in NC and lots of mexican restaurants but none even compare to Howards. JIM
Oh brother, what's with "Arizona Girl"? Apparently only psuedo Mexicans live out here with us folk in the sticks.
Howards has been a familiar face on the Omaha scene for 30-40 years, and restaurants don't get longitvity like that because they are bad.
I've lived in Phoneix too, and the so called Mexican food there, (actually all versions of tex-mex or pathetic attempts at "upscale" mexican flavors, designed to pry big bucks out of the hands of completely uninformed retiree locales and tourists).
Howards is a fabulous, local down-to-earth Mexican restaurant, that serves food the wat you would get in a common blue collar household in Mexico, which is the best.
By the way, Howard is a Mexican, (I know him), his family is, you guessed it, Mexican, and several of them work there, with all the other Mexican employees.
You can't go wrong eating at Howards any day of the week, it's muy sabroso!!!
