Locals flock to this casual steakhouse for Whiskey Steak, prime rib and other classic cuts. Not in a "steak mood?" Try the King Crab leg dinner, a platter overflowing with big, meaty legs. All dinner entrees include potato, vegetable, bread and the freshest salad bar around. Rustic wooden tables, cowboy prints, low lighting and a flickering fireplace set the intimate atmosphere. The bar is especially inviting, with great service and an extremely generous pour.
I was a little concerned after reading a few recent bad reviews. But all that went by the wayside when I walked into Drovers the other day.
We started off with a loaf of amazing fresh baked bread, still warm from the oven.
For an appetizer, we had the bacon-wrapped shrimp (with sautteed mushrooms on the side). They were served with a tangy citrus dipping sauce. Wonderful!
Dinner came with a decent little salad from the salad bar. Nothing really special, but hey, it's a steak house. We weren't really there for salad.
My wife and I both enjoyed the Whiskey Sirloin steak and baked potato for dinner. They were cooked perfectly and served with perfect timing, just as we finished our salads and appetizer.
Decor is Old West/Cowboy. Seemed to fit right in with the feel of the place. Service was quick, friendly, and professional. And the price was great.
I'd recommend The Drover to any of my steak-loving friends.
The drover is not worth the drive from west omaha for me. My favorite place for a steak in west o is prestige. They have some sort of way to cook the steaks over real wood which i really like.
I went to the Drover with a group of co-workers after a Holiday get together at the beginning of December, 2008. The prices were outrageous. You could get a variety of hamburgers for the $8 range, which was acceptable, then the prices jump to $30+ for anything else. All of us ordered burgers, all of our burgers were so burnt they could have been confused for a charcoal briquette. Our waitress took our order then we never saw her again, we did not know if she left or what. A male employee brought us our food, but he did not tell us if he was replacing out waitress or who he was. Also I ordered a mushroom burger, there was no mushrooms on my burger. When I brought it up to a server he brought me a bowel of mushrooms with no sauce or gravy. They would not split the check up for the group, which made it very difficult. In summary, I will never go there again, nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Very poor customer service!
