This restaurant is the best japanese steakhouse I have ever been too. We are from KC and it beats all the restaurants here! Awesome food, awesome service and a great show! We never go to Omaha without eating at Genji!!!!!!!!!
The edge of the grill and table was gross (full of food and grease). The salad consisted of lettuce and 2 grape tomatos and had way too much dressing. The chef was entertaining and very nice. Everything tasted like soy sauce and I felt sick to my stomach for a few hours after dinner. I did not feel Genji was a good value at all.
An ideal dining experience amidst the platitudes of Omaha: My wife and I have visited Genji's for over a year while in Omaha, and I can only say that the Japanese food is amazing.
The chef's are not only entertaining but amicable. They are willing to not only cook amazing dishes in minutes but will occupy the time of their guest with various stories about how they came into the business and the history of your chosen cuisine.
The sushi is excellent. I have recently become a fan of spicy tuna and I owe this newly acquired fancy to the chef's at Genji's.
The food is stellar. I usually order the Filet Mignon, shrimp and chicken and my steak is always cooked to perfection (medium well). The experience of the food in this great atmosphere makes eating even better. My wife is a chicken and shrimp fan as well and she never has a complaint. The miso soup is delicious, and the ginger sauce makes the salad a treat as well. All in all the five course meal is well worth the 20+ dollars (it is 5 course assuming you pay for a 7-9 dollar appetizer).
In a whole year I can only think of once the food was only average, and even then it was good just not great. I can think of one other time, where my noodles were to salty, but again these are outside of the norm and did not really change the overall quality of the meals.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Omaha area who find themselves overwhelmed by the banality of many Omaha restaurants and the lack of food choices amongst this rural metropolis. Genji's is great, service is great, and the experience will leave you wanting more.
Just be sure to make reservations in advance later in the evening and weekends.
