We were in New Orleans only three nights, we had all the fancy food we could eat, but our last night there I wanted to try real southern food, we asked the locals for a recomendation and they all said try Salvo's. Well getting there the place didn't look like the fancy restaurants we ate at the previous nights including Emeril's and Fire of Brazil which were both amazing. Salvos was a paper plates and picnic tables joint... it was full of families and locals and the food was amazing, this was my first time eating crawfish, being California born and raised. We had the all you can eat (and when they say that, they mean it. The portions are huge)

Although this is not a 5-star restaurant I can definitely say the food is. The flavor is amazing and definetly a place I would recomend. The prices are cheap and the portions are huge. We also had the frog legs, the crab cakes (which are heavenly), and the fried catfish which is the freshest I've had, no where near the frozen fish we get here in California.

I've recomended this place to several of my California friends who have visited New Orleans, they have all came back thanking me for the amazing food they had at Salvo's.

Use to work there and I can tell you not only is the food delicious they keep the kitchen and boiler room spotless
The boiled crawfish are their staple though

This place is great!!! And the wait staff is really friendly. I am from the north so this was my first experience with crawfish, and it was a great one. You have to go here if you are in the area. We went there 2 times in four days, didn't go the other two cause they were closed.
