User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSmitty's is a no-fail, terrific fried or boiled seafood joint. Just a quick jaunt from the interstate, Smitty's is a frequent stop for myself and all of my relatives in the New Orleans area. Typically, my family and I will go in a group of 4 to 6 and split a BOAT. Smitty's Boat is HUGE, with generous portions of fried shrimp, fried catfish, fried oysters, and stuffed crab. All of this seafood sits atop a bed of crispy french fries and sliced french bread. It is served with plenty of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. As a personal recommendation, their remoulade is GREAT on their fried seafood and their ranch is perfect for their fries. All in all, this is an excellent seafood shack to hit up if you are in the area!
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI've been to Smitty' twice in the past month and both times the Boiled Crawfish were perfect.Matter of fact a co-worker and I are going to eat some more this Friday!!
User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI am a regular during crawfish season and would eat at Smitty's 2 or 3 times a week. This year the crawfish have not been good. They are overcooked and soft. I ate crawfish there a couple weeks ago and found many to have a chemical taste, I noticed this a few times last year also. I ended up having an upset stomach, but after My wife and I ate boiled crawfish at Smitty's on 01/09/08, we both got food poisoning from eating there and are still both very ill. This is the second time we have gotten ill from eating at Smitty's, and we will not eat there again.

Let's see if I got this right. You and your wife had bad crawfish a couple of times last year. Then a cpoule of weeks ago, you noticed a chemical taste. So you go back on 1/9/08 and get ill from the crafish. Hmmm! reminds me of the guy who was ironing a shirt, and the phone rang, and he put the iron up to his ear and got a bad burn to the side of his face. I said thats terrible, but what happened to the other side of your face? he said the dummy called back.....Dennis from Kenner
