It is my great honor to receive my degree from Southwest University in Kenner, Louisiana. For Dr. Lee and Lydia, thank-you so much for the outstanding help you provided so I could receive my Bachelor's in Business Adminstration, Leadership and Management degree. The confidence from these two ladies, along with my military background provided me with the tools I needed to successfully move on from the military and start in civilian life. Along with their technical help, they also provided supportive words which were an inspiration to me. So thank-you again and I want to let you know that if you are thinking about applying to this school it would be very beneficial and a great choice for distant learning! All the information is provided and books are included!
Southwest in Kenner, LA was only approved to offer degrees in 2004. If you graduated before that, you have a non-accredited degree. Be careful. Confirm this easily with the Louisiana Board of Regents and the DETC in Washsington. Since 2004 Southwest has been providing great education.
Also, when a school is accredited, the status is usually conveyed retroactively to several graduation classes prior to the official date. This is because a school must be in candidacy status for several years before achieving accreditation.
This is not entirely true. Prior to 2004, SW was a Louisiana State Licensed School, and was accredited by the National Home Study Council (the forerunner to the Distance Education TrainingCouncil).
I'm enrolled in the Bachelors of Science: Criminal Justice. The school has been great so far. I'm just about to complete my second course in a few weeks. I will say it's challenging to work full time and go to school as well but I know it will pay off in the long run. Dr. Lee has been a great help and understands the rigor it takes to accomplish ones academic goals while working. I especially like the review questions that must be answered. It checks on learning not to mention getting those critical thinking skills going.
