We stopped in for dinner on a recent visit to New Orleans. The waiters were rude and slow. My husband and I ordered the Prime Rib. It was the worst cut of meat I was ever served! A couple at a nearby table had the same experience. Never again! We should have walked a little further for decent food.
I've been there twice for breakfast in the past 8 weeks. The first time I went, the line outside was down the block (saturday morning). When we finally got in I got the french toast and my wife got a dish called "Mama's ....something" I can't remember. She also got a bloody mary. that was the best french toast I've ever had....ever. And that was the first bloody mary I've ever had, pretty good actually. Gives you a serious kick in the rear that early in the morning.
The second time I went with a coworker on a wednesday morning. No line. They actually opened up early for us. food was great again and we actually got to talk to the people who worked there as opposed to the first time I went when they were slammed busy. Overall, they are cool folks, and they make some GOOD eats for breakfast.
The "locals" that hang on the streets and harass you as you try to get somewhere...not so cool. Same goes for the transplants who live there now, call themselves "local" and have an attitude towards those of us who come to spend money in that town. You should really go back to where you came from. Let New Orleans be.
One star is too many. I am a local and was utterly ashamed when I took some friends visiting from out of town into petunias. The behavior of the wait staff was so abusive and rude we did not even make it to the table before we walked out. I will never again step foot into this establishment, and will now forever view it as a culinary blight in this city. With so many amazing restraunts in this city do not waste your time or money on this sham of an establishment, the crepes are not even that good.
