The restaurant sits on Bayou des Familles and hidden behind the Bayou Barn from the highway. We had canoed the bayou behind the restaurant earlier and several alligators from the opposite bank moved into the water as we approached. Anyway, we stopped in for soup after the paddle. The waiter was friendly and it is the nicest restaurant in the area around the Jean Lafitte Historic National Park -Barataria Preserve. The turtle soup had chunks of turtle meat and was very thick like a gumbo. Unfortunately, it gave me awful burps all evening.
What a place!! Great service, incredible food, and gators that come up out da bayou. My daughters loved dem gators and my wife loved her dessert. Tossed back a few Abita's and I was a happy camper. Hope to return again soon. iiiiii eeeeee.
