We visited on 3/29/08 (a Saturday night) and I'm shocked at reading all the reviews because we were there at about 8 or 9 PM and there was no live entertainment. In fact, even though it was about 70 degrees and gorgeous weather, the joint wasn't busy at all (only about four tables full at any given time we were there). Service was good - our waiter was also the bartender. It must have been an off night for the Jazz Vipers. The ambiance was fun with all sorts of pictures, posters, mixed media and plasters of angels all over the walls. The floors, kitchen (from what we could see as we passed by to go to the restrooms) and bathroom were extremely dirty.
The food was really good. We had a starter of the sampler: Hummus, Spicy Tomato Spread, and Roasted Peppers & Feta served with pita triangles. It was amazing and we finished the whole thing. We both had pasta for our entree but for the life of us, even though it was only a week ago, we can't remember what the names are. Mine was a pesto sauce pasta dish and my husbands was a red sauce with Cajun spices. He said his was a bit too spicey but we had a pitcher of Cherry Wheat on tap so we were all good. No room for dessert. Our bill came to about $48 without tip. I mean, we left a tip but the $48 check did not include the tip. This was one of our favorite places to eat while in NOLA. Just don't look at the floor, the kitchen or the bathrooms.
Really good late-night food... Lucifer's Special pizza is a must have
A Favorite!: This is a great place with mostly locals. Their pizza is the best I have ever tasted - the different sauces are the best!
