I am not hard to please, but after my dining experince at the NO location, I had to comment. The service was great. But I've had better seafood at Captain D's. First, the hushpuppies were bland tasting. It tasted like the recipe consisted of cornmeal and water and nothing else. Next, the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail I ordered tasted as if they were old. Their texture was like rubber, and had a peculiar smell. The rest of the food on the fried seafood platter was also bland. I could barely distinguish between the catfish and the fried oyster. Lastly, for $35, I would expect excellent food. The server was sympathetic and reported my concern over the shrimp to the kitchen, but no one offered to adjust my check. I will never eat here again. Horrible.
I had dinner there last weekend and enjoyed my meal. The gulf shrimp were delicious and very sweet. I had the blackened shrimp which had great flavor. The portions of food were pretty large so I couldn't finish all the shrimp. The steamed vegetables were yummy. Overall the food and service was excellent. The only downside is the restrooms are not kept clean. I was suprised by that. I would eat there again.
I MISS HOME: WHEN NEW ORLEANS WAS HITTING THIS PLACE WHICH IS STILL OPEN IN THE QUARTERS WAS BANGING. THE SEAFOOD WAS ALWAYS ON POINT WEITHER IT WAS BAKED OR FRIED. I LOVE THEIR FROG LEGS. I NEVER HAD IT BEFORE THEN AND THEY WERE THE BOMB. THEY HAVE A SEAFOOD PLATTER WHICH HAS SHRIMP, FISH, OYSTERS, CRAB, AND FROG LEGS WITH FRIES FOR 11.99. YOU GUYS MUST CHECK IT OUT.
