Reviewed from Yahoo! Movies: I saw "To Kill a Mocking Bird" when it first came out in 1962. I thought it was a wonderful movie then and I laughed at Scout stumbling through the woods in her Ham costume. I giggled through the first part of this scene again, despite its serious nature and so did the college age girl sitting next to me. More importantly, however, after 47 years, I realize that there are two scenes that I still find to be the mosting moving and meaningful in any film I have seen since. One is when Atticus Finch is keeping guard outside the jail and Scout, Jem, and Dil come to check up on him when a crowd of angry white men arrive to kill the prisoner, Tom Robinson. When Atticus tells the children to return home, Jem refuses. Six year old Scout, with the wisdom of a child, recognizes one of the men and starts talking to him asking him about his family. Her actions difuse the situation and the men leave feeling ashamed of their behavior. The other scene occurred inside the courtroom at the end of the trial, when all the negroes stood up to honor Atticus. The Reverand said, "Jean Louise, stand up your father is passing."
Robert Duvall, as Boo, gave an outstandingly touching performance through his silence.
I always like going to the Prytania because of the atmosphere created by its patrons and moreover by the wonderfully welcoming attitude of Mr. Renee Brunet.
Movies are best enjoyed in a theater full of people.
We are thankful for the wide variety of films offered by the Prytania and we look forward to returning there again and again.
Reviewed from Yahoo! Movies: Went here to catch a special showing of Casablanca, and I loved it. I'm going again and again, especially this weekend to catch the French Film Festival. Highly recommend going. Small, old timer atmosphere coupled with the latest technology makes Prytania a must for any tourist, or even regular city residents.
