| About: | Caddy-corner from the French Market and across the road from the Mississippi River, sits this classic restaurant that has been serving freshly prepared seafood since 1803. The casual atmosphere, aroma of fresh craw fish and reasonable prices attract passers-by on their way to and from the Market. Inside the French Market Restaurant & Bar there are roughly twenty tables for dining, a 25-foot Oak bar and an Oyster bar all surrounded by the original brick walls of an antique building. Specialties include Shrimp Decatur soaked in the Chef's signature sauce, Grilled Grouper and Crab meat au Gratin with fresh vegetables. |

Was just there...very impressed. Their seafood/Andouille sausage gumbo was positively first class. Flavorful shellfish stock, heavily carmelized vegetables, tons of fresh shrimp and spicy Andouille. Simply the best! The fried oyster po' boy was too big for the plate...spilling over with perfectly fried oysters on a crunchy French baguette. So glad they had Dixie Blackened Voodoo to wash it down. A MUST while in NOLA.
Be Careful!! Husband and I had BBQ Shrimp and both got food poisoning. Daughter's creole was good.
HORRIBLE!!! Will never return and Will tell all my friends about this place.
Some of the servers were very rude. I heard the "F" word more that day by servers then ever before.
They charge for soda/tea refills, not that it mattered too much, other then cost, as they never returned to the table with the drinks, but we were charged for them anyway!
They also auto charged a 18% gautuity for 3 adults and 1 child! They did not inform us of this.
And on the Food, NASTY!!!! The fried aligator was so tough, that we couldn't even get our teeth into a piece and taste was so bad, no seasoning. Although the waiter was very nice when we did see her, but she didn't come very often to the table.
Food = Gross; Service = Sucked; Cost = Too High!!!
