| About: | This two-story bar with its famous balcony is always a lively place. Cafe Lafitte In Exile is a fun spot if you are looking for action and has long been a gathering place for gay men of every age group. There is always a special event on the calendar, from body painting contests to the annual Gay Mardi Gras. The crowd is rough edged and somewhat older, but always welcoming. The bar is lit by many gas lamps, making it very dark and shadowy. The bar is good for those looking for a more subdued gay bar along Bourbon. |

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsMy husband and I went to Cafe Lafitte with 2 of our friends on our 25th anniversary and we were treated like stars. We got a bottle of champagne on the house, and the host Ken was great! it was also karaoke nite which made it even more fun!
Would definitely go there again on another vist to new Orleans. A great crowd & loads of fun!-

The Best Bloody Marys!: My girlfriend and I LOVED Lafitte and can't wait to get back in town for those incredible bloody marys. Hands down, the best in NO!
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFavorite Bar in New Orleans: I go to NOLA four or five times a year, and Lafitte's in Exile is my favorite. A reliable crowd of tourists and locals, long-term bartenders that remember you from visit-to-visit, a great two-story layout, and videos that are at times really hilarious. Some bars in the Quarter are known for their hot sleaze factor, and others are known as more "classy" or touristy (like the Bourbon Pub or Oz). But Lafitte's vibe changes perfectly with the event of the moment (like getting steamy for Southern Decadence). It also has a lot of old New Orleans charm.
