My daughter moved to New Orleans 3 yrs ago and we discovered Parasol's that far back. We eat there almost every time we visit from Houston.
The wife's favorite is the Shrimp Po-boy and she has had the roast beef, soft shell crab, and she thinks that the shrimp is the best in town.
I have tried them all and kinda agree, but I am partial to the "fully dressed" roast beef. I love the gravy fries but not hot on the fied pickles.
We don't drink so I can not speak for the bar other that that is where we go for soft drinks.
Friendly atmosphere and it is definitely habitated by locals and those of us who stop in every time we get to town
I saw Parasol on the Food Network Diners show and decided to seek it out. In a word ... AWFUL..!!
The gravy which I had put onto my french fries tasted great so I opted for their "famous" Roast Beef po-boy. Yuck! What a mistake. The meat was a clump of mushed up, stringy meat, without too much description it was like a brown pile of goo which would be found in your yard after a good rain.
I would NOT RECOMMEND or return here for a po-boy when there are other much better tasting places to go within the same neighborhood.
Parasol's is located on a corner with easy street parking. The bar is downstairs and the sandwich shoppe above.
It shares a rich heritage of what you would expect to see in New Orleans. The atmosphere is charming and inviting.
If you live in the area and have been going here for years, I tend to believe it is more out of knowing the place and people vs. great tasting food.
Parasol's is by far the best dive bar in the city.Plus they have the best Po-Boys in the city!
