My wife and I just tried this restaurant for the first time. We dined here for lunch, with an advance reservation. The overall appearance outside and in is not polished as one might expect for a high-end place. We were seated at a rather cramped table for two in a fairly loud section next to the courtyard. There was an overwhelming odd (soapy?) smell about the place - it's good to have a clean smell but it tends to overpower. The dual waiters seemed attentive enough, but the 1 hour wait for our main course was entirely too slow. We finished with the famous Bannanas Foster, and it IS VERY GOOD! Our total bill for two people was $120 + tax/tip. Although the food was very good - we didn't feel it was worth the steep price that we paid. If we go here again, it will be for coffee and Foster - NOT to eat a full meal.
VERY dissapointed! My husband and I went to Brennans for dinner. I ordered the salmon, it was cooked VERY rare. When I asked the waitress to please have it cooked to medium, the reply was, "we ccok all of your fish rare". I find that for the price of the food, that is for me to decided. I think that Brennans is a TRUE tourist trap.
Have very fond memories of this place from 20 years ago but I am afraid it is a bit threadbare now. Really not worth the high price you pay for poorly prepared food. The staff was over-attentive asking the same questions again and again (different waiters) and the places smelled like a men's room after a heavy Saturday night. Very disappointed.
