I love this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We go there when we go to Amite. You cant' ask for nicer people except when the rush crowd comes in. Most of the workers can deal with it. The younger waitresses seem to be a little rude so just go for the ones with more experience.
I have stopped at Spitale's anytime i passed by that way for the last 20 years --- due to the great seafood and atmosphere - until recently. The new owner has removed a crucial wall that used to make it very cozy and friendly, so that now i feel uncomfortable with the ambience there. The food has declined in quality but not in price, and the old-style service is lacking with the new, young, self-absorbed and clueless male mgr. The old jukebox with the great (and rare) songs is also gone. In future i plan to give it a miss. T, nashville
Oyster Festival: Went to spitale's for the oyster festival had a great time, the place was packed however the service was still great!!

I am not sure when you came last, but I hope you will come back and give it another chance. The wall has been removed, and customers seem to like it more than dislike it. However, I understand what you mean about it being different. Food at all restaraunts fluctuates depending on the season or the company it was purchased from. And lastly, the jukebox was removed from there by the company, not Spitale's. The company that owned it replaced it with a new one that actually downloads music and customers have access to thousands of songs, old and new. As for the young, male mangager, I have no response. Wish you had come in when I was working. I am young, female, and I have a clue :) Best wishes to you and I hope to see you on your next trip.
