User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsVisited Pat's of Henderson for the 1st time in Lake Charles 8-17-2009. With visions of the food from the original location dancing in my head.
It was some what like me, I am older and not quite as good as I once was...... But this was one time that it was as good as it ever was. The staff was remarkably Southern Louisiana hospitality all the way. From the time we were seated in the comfortable, friendly-feeling dining room it was a return to when dining was an experience to be enjoyed and savored. The complimentary fried cat-fish bites were grease less, hot and deeeeelicious.
The gumbo they serve is like no other it always has been always will be not commercial and taste like everyone else it is purely Pats. Don't Get in a hurry enjoy what you order.
The soft-shell crabs are in-describable. Don't let the over spiced and over cooked meals of the masses cloud the real taste of Louisiana.-

I have eaten there 3 different times, and all three times the food was awful. The first two times I ordered steak. The first time the steak was way over cooked and tasted like leather, the second time it tasted as if the steak had sat in hot water and warmed on the grill later on. The third time I ordered a chicken fett., I don't know what they served me, but it wasn't like any chicken fett that I had ever had before. It had no cream sauce, but rather some melted yellow cheese "sauce". I will NEVER go back again!

We made a reservation for 20 the other night. Showed up right on time and were told they could not seat us togther. No problem, so they take the first 6 and left the other 14 standing in the door. 45 mins later we still haven't been seated, so we start to ask whats up. They send us to a back room with no a/c and then refuse to serve us. I've never been treated so bad at what I considered and overpriced tourist trap place. Will never go back. There are many other fine places to eat quality cajun cooking in the area. STAY WAY FROM THIS PLACE.... I yes, the owner looked right at us and didn't care how were were being treated. In todays troubled economy, business owners of this kind need to be taught a lesson, money is to hard to earn to throw away on a bad dining experience!
