Steamboat Bill's Seafood Restaurantin in Lake Charles, La.(2-locations,)is a great place to enjoy delicious seafood, at very reasonable prices. My wife and I have eaten at the Broad Street location every time we've passed through Lake Charles, during the past 9-years and we have never been disappointed. This place is on a major thoroughfare in a working class neighborhood, therefore, many of the local refinery workers stop in on their way to or from work. The menu offers a broad selection of single item as well as a variety of combinations. During our numerous visits, I've tried the cat fish, schrimp, oysters, crawfish, seafood gumbo and a lot more. All items that I've tried have been fresh tasting, well seasoned, and you get an above average serving for 1990's prices (really).
Ya jes ca beat 'em sha!
My husband LOVED it here (and that's saying something!) The boiled crawfish hit the spot for him. For those not into seafood they do have chicken. I had the fried chicken po-boy and it wasn't that great. But the atmosphere was casual and our waitress was cool. We will definitely go back again, but I will be trying something else next time. :)
Steamboat Bill will always be a tradition for my family and I. Fresh seafood is the key here. Everything I've tried has been excellent. Consistency is something hard to find these days in restaurants, but Bills comes through in all areas, including service. Despite the place being quite crowded at times, the staff manages very well. If you visit, the food will always be great, but try to stop in during crawfish season, they produce some of the best boiled crawfish I've ever eaten in a restaurant. I can't speak for the Bill's on Hwy 14... I've always visited the I-10 building.
