If you want a homemade burger, Downtown Seafood is the place to go. My personal favorite, so far, is their hot ham and cheese poboy, but I will eventually try everything they have.

Fantastic value. For around $10 you get a huge serving of shrimp, fries and a small salad.
The shrimp are enormous, perfectly fried and very tasty. This meal could easily cost you $20 or more at some of Baton Rouge's better known seafood restaurants. Burgers very good too...huge and tasty also. They also serve oysters in season...good chicken sandwiches...hot sausage poboys...it's all good. The only fault I can find with the place is the awkward positioning of the drink dispensers.
