The food was okay, but the service was crappy. The waitress didn't even come back to our table once. We didn't get a pitcher like everyone else(even though all 5 of us had tea) and people who came in after us got pitchers while we were waiting on our food. I would rate the food 8.5 and the service -10 on a 0-10 scale. I'm sorry if you disagree.
Local favorite for many years. I often plan business lunches for out of town visitors at this establishment and always receive outstanding reviews of the cuisine. The primary menu items are fried catfish, shrimp and oysters, although there are a few broiled, grilled or seasonal options. Those who do not care for seafood (or are health conscious) should probably make another choice of restaurant. Lunch hours can be quite busy, so be prepared to wait for refills. The staff will provide pitchers of beverage if it is requested. (I would suggest faxing orders in advance if you are in a rush.) Even if you order after arrival, food arrives quickly, fresh and hot despite the number of customers, so I would say service overall is good (certainly better than some other local restaurants).
In my opinion, this restaurant is an over-hyped Long John Silver's. The food was EXTREMELY greasy, not to mention unpalatable. The locals seem to love it though since their options are limited - Not the place for those concerned with their weight, arteries, or any other aspect of healthy living. I also witnessed the waitress not giving the same attentive service to an older African-American couple - they waited longer for seating, care by the waitress, and to receive their food.

This review is a joke. Kelsey, get a life, huh?
I must disagree with Kelsey's review on several points. This is a CATFISH restaurant. That is what they specialize in, so if you expect anything different you will be disappointed. You can also order shrimp or oysters and boiled crawfish in season. However, most of the menu is fried. There is one grilled catfish option on the menu. It is clearly not a health food restaurant, nor is it meant to be. And it is not remotely similar to Long John Silver's...you can't get fried fish this good at any fast food restaurant. I must disagree about the service being racially biased. I have received the same service described on several occassions. Normally, this is due to the number of customers per waitress. The service overall could be improved by hiring a few more staff members during the "rush" periods. This is a local favorite, although not a personal favorite of mine. Stating that it would be a popular restaurant for guests of Jerry Springer is to sterotype the entire community. A negative review that must resort to such measures is not beneficial to anyone.
My husband and i have lived here for 2 years, but this is my home town. i did grow up here most of my life so i know what all gos on around here. My family and i went last night and it was the worst experiance ever! It took an hour and a half to get in and get out. The waitress only came to our table twice. Once to take the order, and secondly to bring my husband a refill 20 minutes after asking for one. The food is not what it used to be. will not go back...i would rather drive an hour to LC and eat Long John Silver's! On the note of biased service. it just depends on the waitress. most of us believe in everyone being equal, but it is sad to say, some still live back in those times where whites were against blacks. I am very sorry for that part of it. The jerry springer aspects of your comment, jerry springer isn't real, he's a fake and his show is fake. So that part of your comment is irrelevent.
Having lived here for 30 years myself, I have not once found the conditions that you describe. As I pointed out, service overall could be improved by increasing staff during rush periods. Obviously, we all have our own opinions and tastes...my husband does not care for catfish and so does not care for this restaurant. My "Jerry Springer" comment was simply in response to the sterotype created in the original post and not intended to offer any credibility to the referenced program. In my opinion, Kelsey's original reference to "Jerry Springer" caused the entire review, which some may have otherwise found beneficial, to appear biased, and, therefore, irrelevent. As an aside, I noticed that after my first post to this review, my profile was hacked, and my conservative avatar replaced with an offensive, racy photo. Additionally, my profile information was hacked with data that was in direct opposition to my actual information. I am a 48 year old, happily married female, mother of 3, native of Leesville and lifelong resident of Louisiana, except for a few years in East Texas. My alias is "Poetic Mom 48". If any other information appears, please be aware that the profile has been vindictively hacked.
