User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis is the best darn bakery in the whole of Baton Rouge. I have been using them for years and years, and I even had 2 cakes for my wedding made there. I don't know how basic that gaudet lady's cake was for the price of $800.00, but I can tell ya' that I paid less than that for both of my cakes from Cake Palace. They had my cakes there for the reception at the exact time I asked for, and never had a problem once with a cake from there. I have ordered a cake there once every one or two months since my wedding in August 2008, and I can tell ya' for sure that if there was a crack in that cake, it wouldn't have been delivered. The people who handled the cake at their recption probably messed it up, and told her that it was delivered like that. I believe that some people just like to complain and see if they get something for free.
User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsFor my daughter wedding last June 2008 , I chose Cake Palace because of their great reputation for beautiful wedding cakes. The total cost with delivery was over $800.00 - Boy!!! was I GREATLY DISSAPOINTED with the results. I wanted to CRY !It was a very basic ivory fondant cake with only ribbon decoration on the bottom of each layer. The fondant was grainy, the cake had a huge CRACK on the backside bottom layer, and the ribbon appeared to have been placed on the cake with oil of some kind. IT WAS TERRIBLE !!!! I am only glad that my daughter was too busy getting dressed upstairs and never saw the cake before it was cut. Of course the cake was delivered only hours before the 7:00 pm wedding. And due to the fact that there was a wedding scheduled before ours earlier in the evening - I didn't get to see the cake until 5:00 pm - TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING THAT LATE !!! When I called Cake Palace on Monday after the wedding, I spoke to the head cake decorator and was told they were aware of the crack and had "FIXED" the problem. She apologized and said the only thing she could do was possibly make me another cake for maybe their anniversary or something I WAS LIVID !!! AFTER PAYING $800.00 FOR A CAKE THAT IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME WEDDING WITH MONTHS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SPENT. I EXPECTED SOMETHING CLOSE TO PERFECTION - THIS WAS AT THE MOST WALMART GRADE CAKE DECORATING. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T RUIN YOUR WEDDING - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
