I left the gym after an early afternoon workout. I was wearing Nike workout clothes. I have been patronizing Koto's for years. I have spent thousands of dollars there. An average meal there is $30.00 by myself. If I have a date it could be as much as $60-$80.00. I f I eat there twice a month, which is usual...or order take out at a minimum twice a month...that totals around $100.00 a month... for 4 yrs...Anyway...I stopped by after leaving the gym for a quick bite to eat...I was craving Sushi. I drove to Koto...on the way home. As I walked up to the door, I noticed the sign that said no cut-off shirts. I walked in and told the hostess that I would be glad to order take out...or put on a sweat shirt...But she said it was not a problem...the sign really applied to people who "cut" there shirtsleeves off. So I said great...and I sat down at the bar to eat a quick lunch. Derek walked in ...saw me at the bar....started yelling at the poor hostess and pointing at me for about 10 mins... I called him over to ask what the problem was and he had nothing to say...no apology...no explanation. I am almost always wearing a business suit or dressy casual. I am a working professional. On this particular day...I was on my way home from the gym. Derek's behavior ruined my meal...I have NEVER been treated this poorly by anyone in any restaurant in Baton Rouge and I have lived here my entire life. I will gladly give Ichiban's all of my business. I will go to Kamoto's over Koto from here on out. Very disappointed....I will tell my friends to avoid KOTO at all cost. Whether they listen or not is up to them. I believe that in this free market ecomony ...we reward good business practices and we avoid the ones who do not appreciate customers. They're are many choices in this town....Do not reward Koto! T. Smith
Give Me A Japanese Sushi House!!!: I hadn't been to Koto's since it was an "oriental cuisine" aka Chinese restaurant.
I have to say the new place has a very pleasant pine wood odor when you enter. The hostesses are EXCELLENT eye candy... and they know it.
The food, on the otehr hand is just average. I had the Sushi/Sashimi Combo for $24.95. While the serving is more that enough to fill you up, its appearance was very Chinese and the over all flavor was just plain. The teriyaki chicken was VERY dry and flavorless.
Now the service is great. The people are very friendly.
I would recommend Koto's to anyone who has no real experience with actual Japanese cuisine and to those that like to watch pretty girls prance up and down the isles...
Koto's is Yummy: I was pleasantly surprised at how much the resturant has changed. I loved the new menu. My family went out one night and even my neanderthal husband was pleased with his beef teryaki. I loved the white tuna sushi roll, & my daughter's spider roll.
