Nothing like getting a hot dog with their fabulous chili and some curly fries with fountain coke over crushed ice..this is a meal like none other. I live in Texas and no trip to my dad's home in Bastrop is complete without going to Mer Rouge for a hot dog. I even asked them if they would sell their chili so I could bring some home with me and they wouldn't. Who could blame them? Trying to protect their personal interest. Everyone I've taken there also agrees their chili dogs are wonderful. Give them a try!

Just moved here almost one yr ago. I had family all my life living in Bastrop and always remembered them talking about Country Cream's Ice Cream..I had my first bite this Mothers Day and it is soooooo good...Took my mother in law their last week while she was staying with us and she loved it......BTW thier chili dogs are just like A@W's use to be bk in Vidalia when I was growing up....

ha, best ice cream in the COUNTRY. I live in Montana now and I go back to Louisiana just to get the Ice Cream. I have literally traveled the world and never had better.
