Great place! Beautiful clear water. Lake is 2200 acres so good size to play around in. Primitive camping area is very nice. One word of caution, don't go swimming at night. A GIANT alligator almost took our dog at night. Any doubters ask he rangers at the entrance gate.
I've spent many w/e's @ Indian Creek both fishing, camping, boat riding, water skiing, & simply having a peaceful time. This place is like GOD's tranquilizer. The primitive camping was so much fun. Cooking over an open fire make food taste twice as good. Coffee on a brisk morning could put Starbuck's out of business. A campfire @ night has a way of holding one's attention. The crackling, roasting marshmallows, conversation, warmth and it's so exciting. I've stayed there in March which was quite cold at night. But with the wife and two daughters inside the tent it made for comfort. Only problem I've ever experienced was the crows fly down and snatch food off the picnic table and coons will enter your campsite at night if you've left any food out. Have to arrive early to get your best campsite.
Indian Creek 6/27: Indian Creek was a very nice place. Several thoughts. They accept no credit cards, so bring cash. Wish their web page said that.
Besides, I wish they would accept reservations. There are several "prime nice" sites that could be enjoyed, but its on a first come first serve basis that overlook the lake. Boy, I'd of like to catch the lake breeze....
The facilites used were clean, but made for cool weather ( meaning they were warm , no windows, no ventaliation except for the ceiling vent fan. ) Ladies sides were nice with curtains for privacy. Men's side...grin and bear it.
It was very quiet, security made many passes. Watch your speed however, Woodworth police don't play and take radar ALLDAY..EVERYDAY. Since our kids are in college, there were many places for kids to play. Lots of walking trails and concrete for walkers, joggers etc. Did I say how quiet it was?
Pull throughs were available. The three beaches were very nice.
While we have been at many State of Louisiana parks, this Department of Agriculture park was nice. Again, my only concern was to pull my camper 150 miles and only to find out there was no room...would of been very sad.
