Living in Iowa City, I was driving through Texarkana over the holidays. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. I'm glad we did. To my surprise, they had chicken and dumplings. I was sold, that is what I had along with pinto beans and cornbread. My wife had the Meat Loaf and turnip greens. The rolls were good and the sweet tea was amazing. I wish this place was here. The price was right in line with everything else across the country, considering its cost $7.00 to eat fast food these days. Cant wait to get back to the Dixie Diner next time we are through Texarkana.
Walked in for Lunch for two. Stood there for at least five minutes and they knew we were there before being seated. The service was great, but the prices were frightening! I really loved the food! The small bowl of purple hull peas were $1.89! Wow! I can get a can of those for 49 cents elsewhere.
The cost of the meal for me and my wife was 27.00. We should have gone to Red Lobster.
The Dixie diner is nearly always excellent, but not on Valentines day. I was there and the food arrived late. The beans and macaroni were cold. The bread was almost to late arriving. The service was good. The food , except for the macaroni and beans, was very good.

Maybe you SHOULD go to Red Lobster, maybe you can get a can of blackeyed pease for 49 cents while you're there!
