| About: | Owner Sami Lal gives new meaning to "hospitality," warmly welcoming each guest to this intimate restaurant by name. The accompanying feast combines fresh ingredients, authentic recipes and gorgeous presentation. The Onion Kulcha bread is scrumptious, but when combined with the Saag Paneer, tender chunks of homemade cheese in lightly-seasoned creamed spinach, it is sheer heaven. If you like spicy, try the Lamb Vindaloo. Or, just sample a bit of everything on the daily lunch buffet. Portions are large, so expect leftovers, and then save room for dessert. Finish with a glass of Indian Marsala Tea. |

no napkins, no spoons for the chtneys, no straws, the waiter forgot our samosa order completely, appearance of resturant can be improved, food was very very delicious but small portions!!!
I did only go once and perhaps they were not having a good day in the kitchen or I have just been super spoiled with incredibly good Indian food but I found this food disapointing.
Indian's Review: Don't go here! Worst Indian food I have ever had! No stars!! I am Indian and have had a whole lot of Indian food in my day, both southern and northern, home cooked and resturant. I am from TX and fortunately have a wide range of Indian restaurants to eat from.
I came across Star of India summer of '08 based on excellent online reviews. I, too had lunch buffet and the food did smell nice. However, the buffet did not offer much of a selection. The Tandoori chicken was overcooked and burnt. The only food that was worth eating was their Naan bread which was excellent, I have to admit. It is light, crispy and cilantro lightly sprinkled on top as garnish. Best naan I have had. However, we had HORRIBLE service here. We were stared at by the waiters the entire time, as if they were worried we would waste their food. Also we practically begged for straws. I asked for a second straw and was treated like it was the second degree. After 5 minutes, someone finally came over with one, reluctantly. Also, we were not given silverware with our meal initially. Service was not pleasant. Can't remember exact price, but price was much more expensive than other average Indian restaurants and food was not worth it. Overpriced and bad food.
Other people here have said they had good service so I don't know if were treated differently because we were Indian, but maybe. Just stating the facts of the visit. It's no surprise that Arkansas does not offer many Indian restaurants because many Indians do not live there primarily. So, for an average person who hasn't really had authentic Indian food, I can see how this place could be mistaken for good. However, I truly regret going here and I say RUN, don't walk.

This is very surpising. I've been eating at this restaurant for 8 years and they have NEVER forgotten to provide clothe napkins, spoons or an order.
