I live in Topeka and frequently do business with customers up and down I-35 all the way south to Austin, TX. I try to time dinner in Guthrie at Fuente Grande Mexican Restaurant for several reasons.

It is the ONLY Mexican Restaurant that serves free chips, salsa, AND white cheese queso AND sopapillas with your dinner. And many dinner dishes are UNDER $8.00.

Last Saturday night, I stopped on my way back home. I tried the pork in the verde (green)sauce as my main entree. Awesome! The pork was so tender it flaked off with my fork to fit the hot, fresh flour tortilla.

I didn't have room but the featured dessert that evening was 'fried cheesecake'.

How do they do it at these prices? I think mainly it is the service which Saturday night was virtually all local teens working hard for tips. And my waitress was rewarded for an excellent dining experience, albeit by myself. Now my wife wants to go on one of my next trips to Texas so she can experience this with me...and after she smelled the leftovers I reheated last Sunday.

Intoxicating.

Fuente is awesome! My family loves eating there and we got there once a week. I love their beef enchiladas and beef tacos. Their service is outstanding! I highly recommend eating at Fuente Grande.
