My wife and I were in the area of David Stanley Dodge so we decided to stop in and look at new trucks to see what they had. The salesman, Richard McGlothlin, came out and we told him we were interested in a 1 ton diesel truck. He showed us the ones he had in stock but the one we liked the best didnât have a window sticker showing the price so I asked him what the price was. Mr. McGlothlin stated he did not know but would go inside and check. When he came back out he gave us the price of $45,365.00. At that time I asked him what incentives they had on this truck and he stated only the factory $4500.00 off the msrp or 0% financing up to 72 months. No other sale price or incentives were offered. So we went inside the office to start the usual back and forth stuff. During the process of negotiating a deal Mr. James Hensel, âSales Managerâ, came into the office and finished the deal but never advised us of any sale price or additional incentives. We were then taken to the finance office and met with Mr. Paul Arguello. The time was late and the dealership was closing and we were rushed through without complete explanation of everything. At no time did he state to us there was a sale price and additional incentives on this vehicle.
Upon going home my wife got on the computer and started looking at the David Stanley website. To our surprise, she found the same exact truck showing the VIN and the David Stanley stock number listed on the vehicle for sale on the website and it was the same as was on the sales contract. The price they had advertised on the truck was $35,872.00, almost a $10,000.00 difference. Also we did a trade in with our truck and we received about $4,000.00 less than what we found it was worth in the NADA and Kelly Blue Book value for trade-in. On the website we found they were advertising a special of up to $15,000.00 off MSRP on all 2009, 3500 Dodge Rams in stock.
On Monday I took all my paperwork and copies of the website ads and returned to the Dealership. After explaining to Mr. Bill Tabor what we had found and showed him the ad, he asked what they could do to make this right. I advised him that if they would cancel the original contract, and honor the sale price, I would purchase the truck, for cash, and they could keep my trade in as listed. Mr. Tabor acted very sympathetic to the situation and stated it should not be a problem but upper management had to approve it. After approx. 4 hours of waiting Mr. Tabor took me to an office and explained to me the upper management had decided not to honor the website price stating it was our responsibility to find the sale price and any additional incentives. We thought that the 72 hour cancellation law on major purchases still existed, but after trying to invoke that the dealership laughed and said go ahead and hire an attorney we have a slew of them and you are not going to get anywhere. After pleading my case again I was advised that âthey donât careâ, that we just lost out on this deal and to live with it because thereâs nothing we could do.
Buyer beware of this dealership as prepared as you think you may be. You still aren't prepared enough for these people. I really feel for the person that just walks in off the street without doing a ton of research and making a deal with David Stanley they definitely are going to get taken for a ride and it won't be a good one.
THIS IS ONE OF THEY MOST DECEITFUL SALES STAFF AND FAST TALKING FALSE ADVERTISING DEALERS IN THIS COUNTRY. THEY WONDER WHY DODGE IS BANKRUPT. IF YOU WANT A HONEST RESPECTABLE CAR MANUFACTURER AND TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND HONESTY GO TO DUB RICHARSON TOYOTA ON N.W. EXPRESSWAY.
Really unscrupulous tactics at this location. My friend had called and talked to a salesman before driving 100 miles to buy a truck from this dealership. He was passed around to another salesman, not even offered a chance to look at a truck nor to speak to the original salesman. His trade-in and loan were approved, but they insisted on a considerably higher downpayment than agreed, so that cinched it.....we left. Don't waste your money, time or gas to visit these dishonest men!
