i ve been going to Chequers for well over ten years, it used to be one of my favorite restaurants to go to. over the last couple of years however the place has gone so far downhill that i believe i ve just eaten my last meal from there. the quality of the food is now severely lacking, the preparation is severely lacking as well. And while the quality has degraded the price for this new slop style has skyrocketed. used to be you could get a very nice meal for somewhere in the neighborhood of $6 or $7 with no thought of sending the thing back... now i m paying $9+ for something i would attribute to the same lack of care and presentation of Mcdonalds. I literally feel like retching up what i just ate.
as far as the dining experience there now compared to then. used to be they would not let you cup sit idle, they would ask about your meal. now its teeny boppers more concerned with sharing their private jokes and talking amongst themselves. over the last two years i ve waited 30+ minutes just to have my drink order taken.
bottom line though, the quality is far worse than they established themselves with.
the price has grown far beyond the quality of the service and the food, its like they don t really care much anymore and for that i will pass the place by with eyes of scorn on my way to something far better and worth the money
Husband and I took out the kids and daughters friend for lunch there on a Sunday. We ordered the half nachos and veggie basket for appetizers. Both were good. For our meals I ordered the stuffed flounder. It came with steamed veggies. Nice portion on the flounder and veggies, both decent. Husband ordered the ribeye steak. Very thick and cooked perfectly. Came with a baked potato and salad. My son ordered a double meat bacon cheeseburger and fries. Juicy and a lot of it. Could only finish half. My daughter ordered chicken pasta. It came with a caesar salad. She didn't care for the caesar dressing and she said the chicken tasted funny, but she ate the pasta. My daughters friend ordered a cheeseburger and said it was tasty as well. Also very large and had to get a to go box. All in all it wasn't super outstanding or remarkable, just some good normal food. Our server was Crystal and it was decent service. Wasn't too chatty and didn't forget about us with refills and such. Decent menu selection. Will put it on our list of places to revisit if in the neighborhood.
small quaint restaurant and pub. Ordered a ribeye steak and it was paper thin and not much taste. My husband steak was the same. The onion blossum was fair. Definitely not as good as Outback. Our bill was 35.00 and certainly not worth the money. The service was poor. I had to ask my waiter twice for refills and steak sauce. First time there and will be our last.
