WARNING: USE THIS LAUNDRY AT YOUR OWN RISK. The new owner, Chris, will not stand behind his service. He offers bundle service for laundry by the pound and he recently lost an entire folding hamper of my clothes. I use this service because I am disabled and have no laundry equipment at home. My significant other also is disabled. It was his 14 snap closure shirts and 4 pairs of cargo pants that were lost. He cannot operate buttons at all because of psoriatic arthritis and screws in his hands and fingers. This loss was devastating to us as this was most of his wardrobe and was new clothing because we had recently culled through his old clothes and bought new. Linda, the manager, searched for our clothes and said she called all the other customers that dropped off laundry around the time we did. She only offered us $125 for all the clothing lost. I researched both locally and online and have found only Sheplers has the snap closure shirts at $49.00 plus tax per shirt locally. Online shirts range from $20.00 to $50.00 per shirt plus tax and/or shipping. You also cannot select the right color and fitting is a problem. I spent hours researching and making phone calls. A number of the shirts were bought at a store in McPherson, Kansas which is a 500 mile round trip, costing for gas, meals, and an overnight stay in a motel. On a limited disability income, we cannot afford to take so little for these clothes. I tried to settle with them for $250 to $300 and Chris would not consider it. Today when I called again, six weeks after the loss, all Linda said Chris would offer is $150. I am considering taking them to small claims court but opted to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in hopes that they can get Chris to agree to mediation/arbitration to settle this. I even prowled through trift stores to look for replacements with no luck. I estimate that to replace these shirts and shorts will cost anywhere between $600 to $1000 including tax, shipping, gas and possible travel expense. I was trying to be reasonable because I had dealt with Doug's since 2000 with no more loss than the occasional sock. There unwillingness to stand behind their unwritten contract to clean my clothes and return them to me in good condition and in a timely manner has left me dumbfounded. They blamed a new employee, but the buck stops with the owner, who will not even talk to me on the telephone. Doug's does not give its customers any receipt, itemized or otherwise, for laundry left with them so it is difficult to prove what I have lost. I would not leave my laundry with this facility because if they lose it you will be out of luck. Evidently they have no insurance to cover this kind of loss. I could get more from my homeowners insurance policy toward covering this loss and have them try to get my deductible and their payment back. This business is not a member of the BBB so I do not know what will happen with resolving this. The BBB will give them 30 days to respond, so I still have a long wait. I will follow up here to let anyone concerned know the outcome, but the best thing to do is find a laundry that will itemize a receipt for what you leave with them, and make your own list at home. If you have to rely on laundries to do your clothes, also keep all receipts when you purchase items so you can prove their value.

I've been going to Doug's for 15 years, mostly to have my bedding cleaned with thier overnite service. Since Doug, left I have never had such awful service! This sort of thing happens every time I go (and I have friends and co-workers that experience the same), but today it just hit me funny and I feel I need to share my experience. Linda, the Manager has always been THE RUDEST person you could imagine. You know the Seinfield show "The Soup Nazi", well, she's the "Laundry Nazi" but 10 fold! This morning I went in a little too early on my way to work, (she doesn't want you in there before 7, yet the door was unlocked so I went in around 6:58 thinking since it was unlocked maybe I'd be ok) BOY, what was I thinking!! She came out and says "SO, I see you went through the employees door, we're not open yet" (It's a double door, push one, pull the other). Granted, this lady doesn't remember me from Adam and treats everyone this way. I graciously said "I'm sorry, it was unlocked, I thought I could just drop this off", she says "well, all the lights aren't on, you'd think that would've been your first clue". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So for the first time in 15 years, I walked out of Dougs Laundry and decided to find another facility. Unfortunately they may be the only game in the town of Bethany, but does that give you the right to be so rude?

You are so smart to have walked out. I wish I had known that the ownership had changed, I would have never trusted a new (mainly absentee evidently) owner with our good clothes. See my review for details.
