| About: | ORU's unique architecture and history draw many tourists from all over the world. The Prayer Tower in the center of campus is open to the public and features the "Journey Into Faith," a multimedia presentation of Oral Roberts' ministry and the university. The beautifully landscaped Prayer Gardens below the tower are a wonderful place to sit and rest. Visitors may shop the Campus Bookstore or be part of the studio audience for Richard and Lindsey Roberts' TV show, broadcast live from the Mabee Center at 8p nightly. The 60-acre campus is laid out to encourage walking, so the physically challenged might need a little help. |

We were in Tulsa and had a few hours to kill back in October, so Annette said..."Let's go see ORU!". So, we did a driving tour of the campus and found it to be amazing!!! The buildings were unique but some were a little odd. We could not get into the Pleasure Dome and there were no parking spaces around the amputated hands...we wanted to take pictures. We could not decide to go in the Maybee Center or not...seemed a bit perplexing to make such a snap decision when we only had a few minutes to take it all in.
There were ducks.
We wanted to buy Oral University sweatshirts but we could not find a store. The space-ship-looking building looked cool too be it was obviously for special...maybee secret events.
Being Halloween tomorrow, we saw a giant pit with sticks piled high and all ready to burn something large and meaty...not quite sure what type of ritual event will happen tomorrow at that location but the security guards would not give an oral or written schedule of events.
There were ducks.
There were Barny Fife-type parking security guards.
We saw a vehicle with "Obama" written in the back window...it was parked all by itself.
We could not find ORU on our GPS...might have been Andria's fault...she drank a lot last night and then exercised (walked) (slowly) this morning.
They did not have Sopapillas...oh wait...that was at Senior Tequila's 20 minutes earlier...but I don't think they have them at Oral University either.
We had a wonderful time but I wish there was a way to enjoy the hands more at the entrance and maybe take pictures of the Man Whole sign at the front gate (naked guy with a ribbon over his private areas).
I'd give it all a 10 out of 10 stars but this site only allows for 5 stars.
