I go there several times a year after floating the Illinois River. The portions are huge and I always need a to go box :o) I've noticed that some people complained about rude teenage wait staff. It's very surprising to me, because I have always been greeted with smiles and prompt service at S&E. The atmosphere is laid back and matches the concept of a college town hang out. If you expect stiff, tie-wearing waiters go to a 5 star $100/plate restaurant. If you want great food at a great price in a relaxed atmosphere Sam and Ellas is a place for you. I wish they'd open one in Tulsa :o)
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWe visited there from Edmond,OK and came upon it by accident. It was during weekday lunch, we ordered the spinach appetizer and a veggie pizza. This is this best pizza any of us have ever had. Two males and one female and we ordered a medium and had alot of leftovers to take home. It was the first time I had ever seen my 25 year old son be full after one piece of pizza!

Best pizza and muchroom caps I have ever eaten. I have been there many many times. My favorite things there are muchroom caps, arti pizza, dominiquer, chuck wagon sandwich...and everything else I have ever tried. My family and I drive there from Collinsville when ever we can. I have seen pony tail guy there before, most every time we go I think, but he has always been nice. At times it is really really busy and you might have to wait for a seat, but it is worth the wait. LOVE IT!!!!!
