I had a frenchie who got sick with what I think was Parvo. My vet was out of town so I took him to Renegar where they performed a parvo test on him. The test came up negative and the dr. diagnosed him with corona disease. The next day I get a call at approximately 10:30 in the morning informing me that my dog had died the night before. I thought that was pretty screwed up being they opened at 8:30am. While informing me my dog had passed the dr. was very unsympathetic and told me he was busy and his nurse would call me about the rest of my bill. My mom went to pick up my puppyâs body and the dr. told her it was a new strain of parvo that killed him. I spoke with my vet about the situation and he was pretty upset. He couldnât understand how he could diagnose him with parvo with a negative parvo test. He said that the ânew strainâ of parvo is actually not a new strain but the newest strain and all the parvo test have been updated to show the ânew strainâ of parvo. I feel like because I was not a regular customer of theirs I received poor treatment and they were in it more for the money and not the concern of my dog. I received a sympathy card in the mail from my vet a couple of days later who didnât even treat him for his illness.
We rescue dogs so spend a fortune getting them right to adopt or keep (10 right now). I always use Renegar's as the care is good and the price is great. If the docs seem less than chatty at times (as one reviewer mentioned), I'm sure it's due to busy days, late nights, etc.
Despite our huge love for dogs, accidents due happen and one day my husband ran over one of our dogs with his truck. He rushed to Renegar's where two docs operated on him for hours (despite thinking he probably wouldn't and perhaps shouldn't survive). They did it! He's still alive and well a couple of years later (though runs a bit funny and pees crooked) and the total bill for all that surgery and hospitilization was hundereds of dollars instead of thousands of dollars which I easily would have spent in Texas. I'm a big fan.
I didnât personally care for this place, but I didnât get the woman vet, it was some guy. I think a vet place should be welcoming, it makes you feel uncomfortable to let strangers deal with your dog. The guy vet didn't say a word to me when we were called back, and just started putting shots in my dog.. atleast let me know what's going on.... please??
