Bobs BBQ

I not only spent the majority of my childhood and teenage years in Ada eating Bob's BBQ, but my mother was a waitress there (Ruby) and I waited tables there as well in jr high and high school. We worked for Bob and Mary and I've been in the back of the kitchen. First......any and ALL restaurants have issues with rodents, insects, etc. when you bring in produce and products off of trucks from all over. It happens. You can ask any inspector and they will tell you the same.

As for the food........the quality was the best, made with a recipe developed by Bob from his early morning arrivals (always over at the restaurant at 4am!). He was truly one of the kindest men I ever knew, as is his widow, Mary and his children, Kay and Robbie. They never scrimped on portions and I remember many a Friday night and Saturday running out of the mounds of ribs because of not only how busy the restaurant was, but all of the take-out orders.

My mother used to have customers who would fly up on their private jets to the Ada airport (12 of them). They would call her at the restaurant and she would get in her car, me in mine and we would go pick these gentlemen up just to eat at Bob's!

I've been gone from Ada since 1983, however, I'm so grateful to know that this institution is still thriving!!!

And yes........many a pound of ribs, gallons of sauce and rib-ends have been shipped overseas to military bases for our fighting men and women.

Here's to 50 more years of great American BBQ!

Bob's recently got shut down for health code violations...they evidently had rats in the kitchen! DON'T EVER GO BACK TO BOBS!!!

YUM YUM: The best BBQ i have ever had, The meat just falls off the bone.
