| About: | Owner/chef Bartolino Cocuzza's Amici restaurant has been serving North Dallas with class for several years. The upstairs space is intimate and comfortable with attractively draped windows and a rustic wood floor. Amici doesn't offer wine, so feel free to bring a nice bottle. Special dishes include Rack of Lamb, Pork Tenderloin with garlic-Dijon mustard sauce, John Dory (a mild, delicate fish) and Grilled Venison. Desserts include decadent Tiramisu with brandy and coffee, Almond Basket (a lacy cookie holding strawberry slices in mascarpone cheese) and heavenly White-Chocolate Bread Pudding. |

We really enjoyed the food and cozy atmosphere. It was definitely gourmet and we were able to bring a nice bottle of wine which made the dinner very affordable.
We will be going back very soon.
One of the best places in Dallas area. Service is always great and food is outstanding. I've been going there for 15 years.
Disappointing is an understatement. Not one aspect of this plate worked. Pork, ordered medium-rare, was over-cooked. Cut corn? At least it was fresh. Spinach was unseasoned. Over-all flavors were bland. The most offensive element of this dish, however, were the mashed potatoes. Billed as "truffled potatoes", they were neither. Overwhelmingly salty instant mashed potatoes is nothing short of insulting. Trying to pass this selection off as "fine dining", at fine dining prices, is just plain wrong. My wife had the "grilled" shrimp pasta. Again, blandness was the most memorable part of this dish. The (fresh-water?) shrimp was untouched by a grill or any form of seasoning, flavored only by a ho-hum sauce that was devoid of any distinguishing flavor elements.
To be fair, another member of our party had the lasagna and said it was the best she had ever had.
Atmosphere was pleasant enough. Small, dimly lit room offered a nice date destination.
Service was adequate. Water glasses never got below half empty.
An open kitchen usually adds to a dining experience, as long as the dishes coming out of it are in some way satisfying. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Amici's.
