| About: | This family-run restaurant offers great service and above-average Bar-B-Que meals. Older restaurants like this one know how to keep attracting folks by offering a casual atmosphere and dependable, friendly service. Delicious chicken and beef sandwiches are on the menu as well as tasty fried okra and crisp salads. The pecan pies are even better than the ones your own mom bakes! You can order one to go, serve it at home and pretend that you're the talented cook. Beer and wine are available. |

I can't imagine any place beng less snooty than Sammy's. I've known the family for years and they are kind, good-hearted folks. I have eaten at this place (sometimes twice a week) for several years since it is owned by the family of a co-worker of mine. Great BBQ and great side dishes, all family recipies.
Go to the original Sonny Bryan's bbq joint on Inwood rd across from St Paul's for the best Dallas has to offer. I've been lunching on bbq ribs out of that smoke house for over 35 years. I think the place openend in the 1940's. be sure and wash it all down with a fishbowl of their icy cold tap budweiser. mmmmm...... ps go early...
The food there is excellent.. Everything that ive had (all the different meats and side dishes) are really good.. I live really far from down town dallas but sometimes I make the drive on saturdays to catch their lunch. The portions are huge and the price is good. It can be hard to find if you have never been there but its worth the drive.
