LOVED IT!!!! My family recently came here for birthday party and the overall experience was very impressive. They sat us in our own private room known as their "Pope room". It was like being in a private little palace or villa with a circular table that actually rotated around! The food is family style, the Italian sausage is to die for, kids pizza not the best (but hey the kids loved it!) The other treat was the waiter--he was very knowledgeable and more than helpful with our large group--what a sweetheart too! I must admit, I thought this just may be a typical "chain restaurant" but very charmed by this place..
Best In DFW Hands Down: Simply the best for the food, atmosphere, size servings, selections. No other restraurant like it. Being always packed tells you something.
There's good Italian and there's Buca Italian: Mind you, I love Italian food - from small family owned to the better quality Brinker chains like Romano's Macaroni Grill, Maggianos, Carrabbas, and even in a pinch, Jonny Carino's (all Brinker). If I have my pick, I will choose Buca, hands down. Firstly, I suggest you make reservations on weekends. If you are planning a date there is a table you can reserve in the kitchen where you will receive a lovely view of how the food is prepared and you will also have more privacy with your companion. The food is served a la carte so it's family style. A small is for two and a large is for three. I say this is the perfect place for anyone with a large appetite. I recommend starting with the Spinach Artichoke dip here because the Pan Fried Mozzarela here is not as good as Maggiano's Mozzarela Marinara, then for the entree, the 9 layer Lasagna and/or (I can't just get one - we must share two) the Fettuccine Supremo with chicken, broccoli and red peppers. As full as you may be - you have to get the Chocolate Vesuvio or the Double Dark Chocolate Cake. This is somewhere you take someone who can appreciate good food as well as good service and a romantic or intimate embiance.
