If anyone is familiar with Mexican American cuisine, and Texarkana, then they know that Amigo Juan is THE best place for Mexican food in the area. Those who are not familiar with the style will not be able to tell the difference. First off you have to like Mexican American food to appreciate it. Second, there is a little taco place off of Hwy 82 that serves GREAT breakfast tacos, though I really don't think much of their menudo. I prefer the Tex-Mex style of Latin American food and I can tell you right now, as a Mexican American myself, and after taste testing a variety of Latin foods in various states across the US, there is nothing better than what you will find in San Antonio, Texas or most of southern Texas. Plain and simple. But Amigo Juan is definitely the place I go when I need a little Mexican-American pick me up :) I don't think much of their salsa, either. Almost reminds me of pizzaa sauce to be honest, but other than that.. Oh and don't forget to try their margaritas - yum!
I love Amigo Juan. The service is good and the salsa is delicious. I eat there at least once a week and I love the fact that everything is cheesy! They have the best Taco Salad in town!
This is the worst Mexican food I've ever had... and coming from Missouri, I've had some LOUSY Mexican! The salsa tastes like crushed tomatoes, and nothing else. I had the chicken tortilla soup, which was just so-so. I love cilantro, which was in there, but they dumped whole leaves in. So one bite would have no cilantro tast, and the next bite would taste like ALL cilantro.
I got the chicken quesedillas on the side. Terrible. Badly grilled chicken breast with a little cheese. No sauce, no taste. My wife also got the chicken quesedillas appetizer -- same thing.
This is the first time I actually had to leave food behind.
