My Wife and I Have been eating at Sams when we are in the area for the past 10 years. The food is always excellent ,the service is always friendly and great,
We highly recommend all our friends and relatives to dine at SAMS
What can I say? Great food, friendly staff, fair price. Best thing between Dallas & Houston.
I'd eat there 3 times a day if I could: I was in Fairfield for a wedding and my wife and I had lunch at Sam's. Man, what a spread! From what the waitress told us, the buffet is the most popular option by far, and having tried it ourselves, I can see why.
There's a long buffet bar for lunch and dinner. Half of it has fried catfish, bbq beef brisket (Texas style), fried chicken, grilled chicken, polish sausage, fried okra, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and a few other hot dishes. The other half has a variety of fresh fruit, a salad bar, and a couple of soups.
Then there's the little buffet on the side. During breakfast, it has eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, and grits. During lunch and dinner it has warm pudding with vanilla wafers and assorted coblers. And then to the side there's a big rack stacked with slices of various cakes and pies.
With all that variety, you'd probably assume it's not very high quality. Well, you'd be wrong - it was really, really tasty. The only item that disappointed me were the salad greens (a little on the wilted side for my taste).
The staff was also very friendly and the service was good. The ambiance is somewhat like a standard truck-stop restaurant - lots of space, but nothing much else going for it.
Still, if you try the food and you're fretting about the decor, there's something wrong with you. At their prices, this place is an outstanding value.
