A hidden treasure chest for me: I used to go to the Half Price Books place up somewhere in Dallas, looks like an old pirate ship on the inside (haven't been to that one since i was a young teen). But Half Price Books spanned out. The one in Irving, Texas had some good finds I wasn't expecting. The somewhat newer location in Cedar Hill closer to where I live had some good finds as well. Anyhow, I mostly look for biblical/archaeological related books as well as science. I'll take a peek at their DVD movies too. Now, they carry computer games, and me being a big kid, I go nuts when I see computer games even at my age. I found a few movies and even computer games that were literally just 10 bucks or less, where in other big stores, the same products were 20 even 30 bucks. Example quickly, a new pc game that just was released was $30 in other stores. At Half Price Books, it was $10 new! I was like, wow... heck yeah! Like most other reviewers said, you can spend a long time in these stores, just hours... and find good deals galore. It's RARE I leave this place without having bought something on just about every trip. They don't pay alot if you trade your books, games or movies in... but their prices are rock bottom mostly. The sales people in many stores are young college kids and not very knowledgeable but that doesn't detract from the great prices and hidden-treasure finds. Always new stuff every week or so as people sell stuff to these stores QUITE often. What you see on the shelf one day may be added to within another week. Example, visiting these stores on a Wednesday may bring you nothing of interest to buy, but come back in a handful of days and you might find several things you'll want to buy. Hard to find books, movies and even pc games. I like it. I think everyone likes Half Price Books, too.
no place like hpb: the value found at hpb is unmatched. the store is clean and well-maintained, the selection of used and new is outstanding. i shop no other chain store for books...ever.
Great values: Whenever I need to purchase a gift, I go the Halfprice Books. I find every excuse I can to go and look around, finding bargain after bargain -- it's every woman's dream.
