I stayed here on the weekend after Christmas and while the room was pricey, the stay was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is quite old and I knew from the get-go that not everything would be "instantaneous," i.e. water pressure and hot water.
What I especially loved was the view. I stayed in the "Bonnie and Clyde Suite," with windows that looked out onto Main Street and Exchange Avenue. I had a great time people watching!
The bed was extremely comfortable, the towels thick, the rooom clean and large. We requested a roll out bed for my son and it came to our room while we were out - great, great service! While the H3 Restaurant is a bit gimmicky, this hotel is a great, authentic piece of Fort Worth history, and I highly recommend it.
Excellent food and friendly staff: H3Ranch is one of the best restaurants ever and the wait staff do a great job. On first look the hotel room is charming with tall windows, wooden shutters and a western look. But for the $200 a night price tag you might expect a comfortable bed and a decent bathroom. Our bed was hard, a flimsy sheet barely covered the hard mattress and there was no mattress pad, two turns on the sheet and you're sleeping on bare mattress - ugh. And the bathroom was so dimly lit that I couldn't even see the label on my shampoo or conditioner. The towels are small and worn thin. One bar of soap the size of a quarter was all we could find.We left the breakfast order on the door at 10:30 pm - floowing the instructions that they would pick up by midnight. Delivery time rolled around and no coffee, juice & croissants to be found. Looked out on the door and order was never picked up. Called front desk and they didn't even offer to send up a pot of coffee. We trekked down to the lobby found a big coffee container set out for guests - but it was empty - very frustrating. Hotel service does not exist. Our advice is go and enjoy that wonderful restaurant, have a drink in that darling western bar but stay at another hotel - you'll be much happier. Also, we had a room over the street and the guitar player at the open air bar across the street soundstoo loud and awful - can't imagine enough beer in the world to make him enjoyable and his noise is very, very irritating late at night, forget about trying to get some sleep.
Why can't I get Hot water?: The big bed was extremely comfortable and the A/C worked perfectly. Those are the only reasons I gave this hotel any stars. The room was small and cramped, dark with only two small windows, and the bathroom was tiny. I couldn't use the toilet without closing the bathroom door, and the shower was a joke. Water pressure was non-existent, as was the hot water in the morning. My response from the front desk was of disbelief initially, then was told that a lot of people were using the hot water so I would have to wait and try again later! I was at a sales seminar and couldn't wait. I found out from ten other co-workers that they didn't have hot water either. We never did find out why. The TV had only 13 channels and no movie channels. With no parking lot, guests should get free valet parking, but are charged $5.00 instead. When my colleagues and I arrived at 1:00, we were told that none of our 15 rooms were ready yet.? This was on a Wednesday! How busy could they have been Tuesday night in Fort Worth Texas??? I will never stay here again! I would have enjoyed Best Western as much, but would have paid $50 versus $120
