Billy Bob's Texas
(817) 624-7117
2520 Rodeo Plz, Fort Worth, TX76106Get directionsCross Streets: Between Stockyards Blvd and E Exchange Ave
This cavernous honky-tonk is America's 'Best Country Music Nightclub' according to both the Country Music Association and The Academy of Country Music. It's also one of the largest and most famous. Founded in 1981, Billy Bob's Texas offers enough room for 6,000 people to drink, play pool, play video games or dance to the live country music performed every night. Rodeo enthusiasts will enjoy the indoor arena where cowboys ride bucking bulls every weekend. Friday and Saturday night headliners are often among the biggest names in the industry, including Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Rimes, Hank Williams Jr. and Bob Hope. All have left hand prints, which are displayed in concrete around the club. It is recommended that you call the box office for weekend concert ticket prices before planning a visit.
Billy Bobs has to be the most amazing place in Texas. I love the people and the concerts. If you are truely country born and raised you will love this place.
Only commenting on the concert venue: Saw Chris Knight on Friday, May 23rd. Our seats were in the front row right next to the HUGE speakers. There was no way we could have possible sat in those seats with the sound so loud. We were able to move to the back of the venue with no problem, however, the sound system was SO BAD you could not hear a word Chris was singing. Just sounded like a bunch of noise. VERY DISAPPOINTING since we hosted two couples who have never hear Chris before. Chris is such a great singer and he was robbed. We felt robbed as well. In addition, the lighting guy kept turning the bright white lights into the crowd. What was he thinking! So hard to imagine so many talented and famous folks have performed there. Is the sound system provided by the band or Billy Bobs? If provided by Billy Bobs, they need to step it up, or they will find themselves out of the business of concerts. As of now, I will not attend another concert at Billy Bobs.
We saw Randy Travis on Sat. 3/8/08. Randy did a really nice set and we had great seats ............but the sound system was a disapointment. The vocals were not very clear and seemed muddied by lots of base. Dispite the fact that we were only a couple rows from the speakers we really strained to hear Randy's mike. When he sat down and did a solo with the acoustic guitar the ambient crowd noise was as loud as the music. I like Billy Bob's with the live bull riding and all, but as a concert venue (all those posts in the way) it is not great.
