My family and I recently went to the Japanese Palace for the first time and were extremely disappointed. The sushi was disgusting and dry and the service was terrible. If you are going here for sushi run! This place caters to hibachi lovers only they should take the words sushi bar off of the sign. We waited 45 minutes after being seated to get our food and noticed they were understaffed only to be served crap! My husband ordered one of the entrees which included an overpriced steak floating in sauce with grilled onions?? Where were the assorted vegetables? We could have bought steaks and grilled at home and it would have tasted better. The Japanese culture would be ashamed of this establishment.
Our group of eight has gone to the JP for years - 2-3 times a year. And it has always been GREAT. But apparently a change of management has happened recently, and we may never go again. The food was still very good, and the show good too, but the service was LOUSY in mid July, 2009.
It was very frustrating to have to wait for soup...salad.....beverage refills, and then we had to wait 5-10 minutes after everyone was completely finished, and the to-go boxes were packed up, just to get the check.
I miss the original staff and management.
Went to Japanese Palace for the first time and it was more than I expected. The food was excellent, chefs were very entertaining, and service was exceptional. Be sure to go hungry, they serve good size portions. Can't wait to go back.
