I was able to get help, new shoes, and some used clothing.
Chelsea
On a day within the last 10 days of October I took a friend who was recently paroled, after 7 years, from a DWI sentence with only the clothes on his back to NEED. He, Tommy, merely hoped for receiving a change of clothing (or, two) so he could look for employment without looking dirty or smelling dirty. Tommy was received by a man who recited to Tommy all the reasons why they could not help him several times (like a broken record-maybe the man was impaired?). One of the reasons given Tommy was that he had no recent mail showing his name and address 'as Haltom City.' He did not have a TX license w/picture although he had a state OFFENDERS ID w/picture. This man did not, in the alternative, offer any suggestion as to what they might be able to do to help him. There was a woman sitting at a desk who wanted to speak but could not get a word in edge-wise as the man was so into himself and his 'would-be-authority'. He was rude, abusive and disrespectful. I tried to speak on Tommy's behalf but before I could finish my thoughts this man turned his vindictive mouth to me telling me to "get out." With out a further word from me I went to the door and this man actually pushed the door against my back as I was exiting. With witness, this could have been an assault charge. Now, what I got to say before he cut me off was, "the man told you he just got out: no mail; he's got state ID and proof that he lives with me...." That's where I GOT CUT OFF AND FORCEFULLY EXITED. I wanted to add that a place like "NEEDED" should be looking at avenues to make "help possible" rather than define all the ways they could not help. If I knew who this man answered to, I would seek him out and file an afirmatively formal complaint. Anyone knowing the agency or people that supervise NEED on Broadway in Haltom City may notify me at bugular12344@yahoo.com so I can tend to filing a complaint.
I went there I talked to some people who work there. They are kind good hearted people, that will always be willing to help, The people there are modern day angels in a corrupted world.
Next time you see someone walking down the street or carrying heavy groceries just ask "would you like some Help with that" when people care it makes the world easier
